Cape Coral’s Pioneer’s Homes To Be Demolished Soon

The Molters are one of Cape Coral’s pioneer families. The Molters’ home is an old and now-dilapidated Army barracks off Pine Island Road. It stands at the same spot as it was before when the Molters’ father, a carpenter, reassembled it. Jake Molter bought the humble home in the year 1949 from the Buckingham Army Airfield. Back then, it was valued for $200.

Like all things, the Molters’ home is seeing its end. One a tentative deal is settled, the Molters’ historic abode will be demolished to make way for the widening of Pine Island Road. Bob Molter said, “My family was loving; they were all crazy protective of me.” He added, “When the house is torn down it’ll be devastating. I knew this has been a long time coming. … It’s progress, I guess.”

According to news-press.com, construction of the project is set to begin in the middle of 2013. The road project is estimated to cost around $8.8 million, which is a sum Cape Coral property management obtained through a low-interest state loan. Joan Hill, one of the Molters’ sisters owned the house next door and it was already sold. Before the end of the month, Joan Hill’s home is expected to be cleared.
